My Sporting Heritage project started in January 2024 and is expected to be completed in December 2026. Under the Coordination of the French Musée National du Sport, in Nice, the project aims to strengthen a sense of belonging to the European Union through sporting heritage, physical practices and the values of sport.
Indeed, although experts in the fields of sport and culture agree that there is a rich European sporting heritage, very little has been written on this subject to date. This is why the creation of a think tank and the establishment of an inventory of the subject seem to us to be essential for enhancing the relevance of this topic.
My Sporting Heritage project will organise two workshops and a conference to present its results, that will be made available also thanks to the production of a scientific journal. The project will also develop educational tools approaching European sporting culture, addressing students aged 11 to 15.
The design of a virtual exhibition, coordinated by the Michael Culture association, will make it possible to identify the common heritage between the European members, while giving a place to the local traditions and physical practices of each region. At the same time, a digital kit in the form of an Escape Game and Geocaching will be downloadable free of charge and in several languages by teachers, sports educators and European facilitators. Test sessions carried out by associated partners will make it possible to refine the tools and encourage physical practice in the different countries of the consortium. Finally, these tools will be distributed to cultural, educational and sports structures.
