The Digital Heritage Research Lab (DHRL: http://www.digitalheritagelab.eu/) is under the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT: www.cut.ac.cy). The lab was established in 2013 and it is the first and so far the only one on the island of Cyprus that specializes in the field of Cultural Informatics. Our aim is to explore issues such as digitization, archiving, preservation, use/reuse and protection of tangible and intangible remains of our CY and regional cultural past. Moreover, the lab focuses on how the latest technological developments can deliver this legacy to all people and communities on the Island. Therefore, we collaborate with all relevant private and public sectors and in the EU the lab cooperates with a network of at least 150 leading partners from the academic, research and industrial CH sectors working towards the development of new tools and smart applications. Our beneficiary groups are small & medium Cultural Organisation in Cyprus, Cultural NGO’s, Local Authorities (Municipalities), Museums and Individual Stakeholders on CH. Currently, the creation of the Cypriot Photo Album (The Collective Memory of Cyprus) has the support of all the Ethnic Communities, the 67% of Cypriot Municipalities and the 46% of Cypriot Communities (Free and Occupied parts of the island). The research focuses on four thematic areas: recording, access, management and preservation.
