MICHAEL CULTURE ASSOCIATION

Michael Culture (Registration number 890 53.9 479) is an international non-profit-making association, registered under Belgian law. Michael Culture brings together legal entities – private and public institutions, as well as a restricted number of individuals as Honorary members.
Legal office: c/o Burotel Rue de la Presse 4, 1000 Brussels – Belgium.

It aims at:

  • Promoting and valorising European cultural heritage by its digitization and dissemination to a European and worldwide audience,
  • Enhancing the network of European professionals working on digital cultural heritage, through the actions towards its network, including the MINERVA Network.

Its activities are:

  • Support and development of the transmission and exchange of information, particularly via projects, publications, conferences and events;
  • Research and training on related subjects;
  • Networking and participation in European and international projects.
  • Policy/Advocacy
  • Developing the use of DCH in Culture and Heritage, Education, Tourism areas.
  • Management of Museum-Hub supporting European Museums in publishing their data on Europeana

Michael Culture is a network of members and partners that support our mission. To keep our network informed about our activities, European policies, events, news that could be relevant, we keep a database of stakeholders. Your integrity is important to us and we aim to protect it by our privacy policy and according to the General data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Principles and Rights of Data Subjects

Any personal data you provide is processed in compliance with relevant EU and national data protection laws, following these principles:

  • Lawfulness, fairness and transparency: We collect personal data from newsletter subscribers, users of the reserved area, surveys and contact forms, based on your consent. Data is collected directly from you when you subscribe to our newsletter(s), fill out surveys or forms, and/or create/update your account for the reserved area.
  • Purpose limitation: Personal data is obtained and processed only for specified, legitimate purposes, including communication about our activities, newsletters, account creation, or for survey participation.
  • Data minimization and storage limitation: Only personal data strictly required for these purposes is collected and retained only as long as necessary for these purposes or as required by law.
  • Accuracy: You can update or correct your data at any moment.
  • Integrity and confidentiality: Data is processed with adequate security measures.

Your Rights:
In accordance with GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal data;
  • Request correction or deletion of your data;
  • Request restriction of processing, or object to processing;
  • Data portability (to receive a copy of your data in a usable format);

  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (e.g. the Data Protection Authority in Belgium).

DATA SHARING AND PROCESSORS

  • Mailchimp: We use Mailchimp for sending newsletters. Subscriber email addresses may be processed by Mailchimp. Mailchimp is GDPR-compliant.
  • European Commission: Where required under funded projects (FP7, H2020, CEF, Erasmus+), we may share relevant personal data with the European Commission.

DATA SECURITY

We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration or destruction. Only designated staff can access your data, under confidentiality obligations.

What data we collect and why:

  • When you register for our reserved area, we collect your email address and the information required to create your member account.
  • No payment or billing data is collected or stored.

Only site administrators have access to member account information.

How long we retain your data:
We keep your account data for as long as your member account exists, or as required to comply with obligations.

This restricted network area is available only to MCA members only and is intended for secure collaboration and confidential document sharing.

By accessing this space, you agree to keep all shared information private, refrain from sharing login credentials, and use the network solely for legitimate member-related purposes.

Unauthorised distribution of documents, misuse of resources, or security breaches may result in suspension or termination of access, and in serious cases, legal action.
