Advocacy icon

Since 2008 MUSEU is a reference point for European museums and other cultural institutions hosting museum collections in the field of digital cultural heritage and aggregation.

  • MUSEU provides services and good practices such as : training and capacity building activities, helpdesk, documentation, updating on digitisation, standards, aggregation, IPR and reuse, multilingualism and terminologies, digital exhibitions, digital storytelling tools.

  • MUSEU is run by experts working for MCA, and it benefits from a big network of experts in digital cultural heritage who are used to work together in European projects and initiatives.

  • MCA is one of the trusted aggregators of Europeana and partner of the Data Space for Cultural Heritage, which builds on the Europeana Digital Service Infrastructure and the Europeana Strategy 2020-2025 and is a flagship initiative of the European Commission to accelerate the digital transformation of Europe’s cultural sector.

  • MUSEU is aggregating digital content (texts, images, videos, 3Ds) from more than 50 partners of 22 countries, taking care of the legacy on the projects Athena, Linked Heritage, AthenaPlus.

  • It is a bridge for museums who want to join Europeana, either new museums, either those who want to update or add new datasets. It helps CHIs to aggregate high quality digital content using the MINT technology.

  • Making available its metadata, MUSEU also takes part in experimentation activities concerning enrichment and multilingualism using AI and crowdsourcing technologies for the improvement of the Europeana Platform.

  • Our experts are participating in several working groups and task forces within the Europeana/Data Space and the ENA network: the Data Quality Committee, the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force, the Innovative Operating Models working group, the Climate Change community, making comments and proposals to the working documents.

  • MUSEU is also contributing to Europeana editorials (blogs, galleries and digital exhibitions) and it has become a partner of Historiana, producing learning activities.

  • From April 2024, Michael Culture /MUSEU became a member of the Europeana Aggregators Forum (EAF) steering committee.
