Empowering Cultural Operators: MCA’s Training Course on Digital Cultural Heritage
MCA continues to play a pivotal role in fostering digital innovation within the cultural heritage sector. As part of the Know Europeana initiative, Maria Teresea Natale, Project Manager at MCA and MUSEU Manager, delivered an intensive 25-hour training course tailored for cultural operators from Apulian GLAMs, school teachers, and university students.
Organized in collaboration with the University of Bari Aldo Moro – Department of Humanistic Research and Innovation (DIRIUM), this course was a key component of the TOOC DCH PUGLIA SKILLS LAB project. Its primary goal was to enhance participants’ knowledge and technical skills in the aggregation, enrichment, and dissemination of digital cultural heritage.
Held remotely, the training featured a balanced mix of presentations and hands-on interactive sessions. Participants engaged with crucial topics such as:
- Cultural heritage aggregation and its role in digital accessibility
- The Europeana Data Model (EDM) and its impact on structuring digital collections
- Semantic enrichment to enhance metadata and user experience
- The Europeana licensing framework for responsible and open sharing of cultural content
- The creation of digital exhibitions using the Movio CMS
This initiative underscores MCA’s commitment to equipping cultural professionals, educators, and students with the expertise needed to navigate the evolving digital landscape. By fostering a deeper understanding of cultural heritage aggregation and digital curation, MCA is actively contributing to the enrichment of European digital culture.
